About Montclair
Incorporated in 1956 as the City of Monte Vista. The name was changed in 1958, however, because another city in California had the name of Monte Vista which caused confusion in mail service. Residents voted on the new name: Montclair. The City continued to flourish with residential development and, with the construction of the Montclair Plaza in 1968, commercial development.
Montclair is bordered by Pomona to the West, Claremont and Upland to the North, Ontario to the East and Chino to the South and is in San Bernardino County. Montclair is in the Pomona Valley and part of the Inland Empire. The San Bernardino Freeway (10 Fwy.) runs through the northern part of the city.
